The Bucks County Gilbert & Sullivan Society also performs at community celebrations. Among the events we have participated in are: performing two road shows for Symphony Manor (Feasterville) and the Bucks County Bar Association (Doylestown); singing the National Anthem for the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, Delaware Valley University Football Games (Doylestown) and the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce "Spirit of the Nation Breakfast" (Ivyland); assisting with clean-up at the Doylestown Arts Festival; singing Christmas Carols for Discover Doylestown with the brass ensemble from our orchestra for the Annual Tree Lighting and the arrival of Santa Claus; singing for the Annual Christmas Breakfast for Discover Doylestown at the Pine Run Community (Doylestown); performing HMS Pinafore Sing-Along with the Princeton Society of Musical Amateurs (Princeton); and performing a medley of WWI music for the Doylestown Historical Society at the Doylestown Bookshop. Our three main events each year are:

June - Our Main Stage Show, a fully staged production of one of the 14 operettas written by W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. We perform these in the air-conditioned Life Sciences Building Theater at Delaware Valley University.  We are thrilled and privileged to have full orchestral accompaniment for the show by the 35-piece Bucks County Gilbert & Sullivan Orchestra, conducted by Lee F. Milhous.

October - An Autumn Dessert Cabaret of favorite musical pieces by Gilbert & Sullivan and Broadway composers, accompanied by piano and instrumentalists. We perform the cabaret in more intimate settings around the Central Bucks area and also serve delightful desserts, coffee and beverages.

December - Our Annual Handel's Messiah Sing-Along, where audience members may sing the choral sections of this Christmas classic and listen to our outstanding soloists perform the solo arias, all accompanied by the Bucks County Gilbert & Sullivan Orchestra.

The delightful score includes the patter song “My Boy, You May Take It from Me,” the dulcet madrigal “When the Buds Are Blossoming” and the sweet duet “I Know a Youth Who Loves a Little Maid.”

We are proud members of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce for Greater Montgomery County and Discover Doylestown, and the enthusiasm of our audiences and sponsors grows each year. We are one of only a few theater groups in the tri-state area that produces only Gilbert & Sullivan musicals, and because of the G-rated nature and witty humor of these shows they are a perfect way to introduce youngsters to the operatic form. Our directors and conductors are regarded as expert in making these turn-of-the-century musicals appealing and accessible to modern audiences.

The mission of the Bucks County Gilbert and Sullivan Society is to promote and faithfully perform the works of Gilbert & Sullivan, to enhance opportunities for amateur theater in Bucks County, and to provide educational, social and charitable benefits to the Bucks County community.

We are a high-quality amateur theater company, gathering close to 100 local musicians, actors and staff to mount each of our shows. We present the timeless, family-friendly creations of the inventors of modern musical comedy, Gilbert and Sullivan. It’s our mission to preserve these classics of comedy and beautiful music for our community.

Now in our 16th Season, we enthusiastically offer Gilbert & Sullivan’s comedic spoof of melodrama, the musical 'Ruddigore' from June 20-22, 2025, at Delaware Valley University. In the show, an ancestral curse haunts two brothers of the house of Ruddigore, who through disguise and trickery try to escape its painful punishment while still winning the girls of their dreams. The farcical plot includes a bevy of professional bridesmaids, a hornpipe-dancing sailor, ghostly ancestors and a mysterious ‘mad’ maiden, all singing Sullivan’s resplendent music and accompanied by our 35-piece live orchestra.
